As for the woman behind the man, that was never witten in the script for the blue devil. Despite his German charm and boyish ways, Kitty and Kurt became close although Kitty did not see Kurt as a man but as a monster, and she became frightened when Kurt came about her. But in time Kitty began to see Kurt for the being he was a kind warm hearted creature.
As noted on the first page Kurt came to face with his mother Mystique and this is when the world new that he and she where mother and child. As Kurt moved on and formed the team Excalibur he took one of the former X-men Jean Grey, who's now known as Phoenix. Jean Grey died in the expisode "The Return of Phoenix". Kurt of Excalibur, along with his allies of the X-men will live on. Althought Marvel has taken the episode off the air the "X-men" will roam in the dark places of everyones mind.
