Cyclops was the first student of Proffessor X. His mutant ability is being able to cast a ray of light from his eyes. The ray is powerful and can destroy almost anything it touches.

Beast posses the knowledge and the strenght for the team. Despite is apperance "The Beast" is very friendly.
Rogue is the southern hospitality of the team. Her mutant ablilty allows her to absorb the strenght, thoughts, and power of another soul. Rogue has the ability to fly at will, she contacted this through the absorbtion of another muntant's powers.
Gambit came to the team at a later time. Gambit was founded by Storm, his mutant ability is harnessing powerful bolts of energy.
